About Us

Urban planning, infrastructure, and service delivery

The Municipality of Kilifi was established in 2018 in accordance with the Urban Areas and Cities Act of 2011 (amended in 2019). Located in Kilifi town, which is the headquarters of Kilifi County, the municipality is bordered by Watamu to the north, Mtwapa to the south, and the Indian Ocean to the east. It has a municipal board of nine members who were sworn in on August 21, 2019.

Message from the Municipal Manager

Building a resilient municipality requires collaboration among the Department of Lands, the Municipal Board, and staff. In the past year, we have implemented projects like market refurbishments, road improvements, and public facility upgrades to benefit the community.

Board was sworn in on 21st August 2019

We aim to enhance staff capacity for sustainable development in Kilifi and welcome partnerships in waste management and conservation. We appreciate support from Kilifi County Government, H.E. Gideon Mung’aro, the World Bank, and the Municipal Board.
